The first step.

Loading...
Really bad fishmouth
Loading...
Now if the pieces would just weld themselves...
Loading...
Loading...
Someday I'm going to make a decent clamp for angles..
Loading...
All ready to be tacked..
Loading...
The very first tack.
Loading...
Tacking the other side.
Loading...
Complete weld on one of the two un-tacked sides.
Loading...
Loading...
Completed weld
Loading...
Loading...
Attaching the foot - more creative clamping.
Loading...
All tacked up and nowhere to go.
Loading...
Loading...
Loading...
All welded..
Loading...
I didn't have an appropriate size block, so I welded two pieces together and then machined the block square.
Loading...
I slit the end of the tubing to make it easier to weld the blocks in.
Loading...
Block in place and ready to be welded.
Loading...
Now I have enough metal to drill and tap..
Loading...
Using a center drill to make a pilot.
Loading...
I really gotta get a better oil dispenser. 1 quart containers of motor oil are messy.
Loading...
Eeek!! Don't make me go in there! It looks like Husky snow!
Loading...
Loading...
Look at that nice threaded hole!
Loading...
What a lame fishmouth. I'm embarassed to admit that I did it!
Loading...
It's starting to look like something.. Check out the blue foot bolt!
Loading...
Loading...
Loading...
Adding some braces to support the main cross-piece.
Loading...
Loading...
Loading...
Look at my blue tungsten!
Loading...
Loading...
Loading...
I really wanted a piece of angle plate here but didn't have any of the right size. Fortunately, as long as the bowing is even it won't be a problem.
Loading...
I machined down the sides of the rear brace and gave it a bit of a curve where the two pieces meet.
Loading...
Loading...
Loading...
I welded two pieces to the sides of the rear brace for added strength.
Loading...
Loading...
Loading...
Loading...
Almost done!
Loading...
Wow! Look at that! 11.5 hours and $40 worth of materials later and I have a stand that I could buy at Home Depot for $19.99!
Loading...
Loading...
Loading...
Sure looks cool though. And it folds up nice.
